India’s m-Governance initiative bags UN Public Service Award

New Delhi: ‘Mobile Seva’, the national mobile governance initiative launched by Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Government of India, has bagged the second prize under the category on ‘Promoting Whole-of-Government Approaches in the Information Age’ of the United Nations Public Service Awards (UNPSA), 2014. Mobile Seva is the only winner from India across all categories this year.

Passport Seva goes rural through Common Services Centres

New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs, along with CSC e-Governance Services India Limited, which is promoted by the Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY), is all set to launch Passport related services through the vast network of over one lakh Common Services Centres (CSCs) across rural hinterland. The initiative would largely bridge the digital divide in the country.

Indian Railways launches SMS Gateway for PNR status updates

New Delhi: Indian Railways has added another milestone by launching yet another innovative scheme called the ‘SMS Gateway’, which will enable passengers to get SMS alerts on the status of reserved tickets. The ‘SMS Gateway’ developed by the Centre for Railway information Systems (CRIS), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Railways, was launched by the Minister of State for Railways, Shri Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury today.
