Alappuzha: With a pledge to accord the highest priority to coir sector, Chief Minister Shri Oommen Chandy inaugurated the week long Coir Kerala 2013 on February 01, an international event that aims to drive the resurgence of the state’s most important traditional industry.

Trivandrum: A large and virtually untapped market for coir exists within the country which could potentially drive the resurgence of Kerala’s coir industry, according to Minister for Revenue & Coir, Shri Adoor Prakash. Initiatives such as the Coir Kerala trade event, which enters in its third edition this year, target revival of Kerala’s traditional coir industry by facilitating business interactions, discussions on R&D and technology exchange.

Trivandrum: The third edition of Coir Kerala, an international event on Kerala coir and other natural fibre products, will be held at Alappuzha from February 1-5, 2013. Coir Kerala 2013 is expected to make a turnover of Rs. 200 crore and witness the largest number of visitors and delegates from 60 countries including about 40 delegates from Europe.
