Active Covid cases in Kerala fall below 3 lakhs, deaths cross 7,000

Thiruvananthapuram: 28,514 new cases of Covid-19 were detected in Kerala today from 1,26,028 sample tests in the last 24 hours with a test positivity rate of 22.63%. The highest number of 176 Covid deaths on a single day so far was also reported and the death toll in the State is now 7,170. Today, 45,400 patients have recovered from the disease bringing down the total number of active cases in the State to 2,89,283. Malappuram district has the highest number of 3,932 new positive cases today.

Lockdown in Kerala extended till May 30, triple lockdown only in Malappuram

Thiruvananthapuram: The lockdown in Kerala has been extended till May 30 while the triple lockdown will continue in Malappuram district only. Briefing the media, Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan said, “The average test positivity rate for the last three days is 23.3%. While the TPR is more in Malappuram, it is decreasing in other districts. Active cases are declining in all districts.”

Kerala reports a 12.1% reduction in Covid cases in last one week

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan today informed that there was a 12.1% reduction in the number of Covid-19 cases reported in Kerala in the last week. “Statistics show that there has been a decrease in the spread of Covid with the introduction of lockdown. The test positivity rate is decreasing in the four districts where triple lockdown has been implemented. However, a relaxation in the lockdown can be considered only if there is a significant decline in the number of new cases.”

Strict restrictions to be implemented as part of triple lockdown: CM

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan today informed that strict restrictions will be implemented in the four districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Malappuram where triple lockdown will be in force from midnight tomorrow. “A detailed order in this regard will be issued by the respective District Disaster Management Authorities. The current lockdown will continue in the other ten districts of the State”, the Chief Minister said while briefing the media.
