Coir Kerala 2013 to revive traditional coir industry

Trivandrum: A large and virtually untapped market for coir exists within the country which could potentially drive the resurgence of Kerala’s coir industry, according to Minister for Revenue & Coir, Shri Adoor Prakash. Initiatives such as the Coir Kerala trade event, which enters in its third edition this year, target revival of Kerala’s traditional coir industry by facilitating business interactions, discussions on R&D and technology exchange.

Forward Markets Commission holds Stakeholders meet

Kochi: The Centre will set up two expert panels to look into the problems of futures market in pepper and cardamom and put in place an effective mechanism to ensure the quality of products traded, Prof. K V Thomas, Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, said this while presiding over a stakeholders’ meet for rubber, pepper and cardamom participants in the futures market, organized by Mumbai-based Forward Markets Commission (FMC).

IRRDB, World Rubber body to meet at Kovalam

Kottayam: The International Rubber Research and Development Board (IRRDB), the research and development platform of natural rubber producing countries, is conducting its Annual Meetings 2012 and 10th International Rubber Conference (IRC) at Kovalam. The IRC will be held during October 29 – 31, 2012 and the IRRDB Annual Meetings on November 1 & 2. The Indian Rubber Board is hosting the IRRDB Annual Meetings and IRC, this year.
