Thiruvananthapuram: The state public sector Kerala State Industrial Enterprises Limited (KSIE) has won the Best PSU Award instituted by the Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Kerala, for Outstanding Achievement during 2024-25.
KSIE was awarded the honour in the category of companies with a turnover between Rs 50 crore and Rs 100 crore. The Board of Public Sector Transformation (BPT) assessed the company’s performance based on the parameters set by the Industries Department of the Government of Kerala.
Lauding the employees for the honour, Dr B Sreekumar, MD of KSIE, said the company is focusing on both manufacturing and services sectors equally.
KSIE clocked Rs 8 crore as profit during 2024-25 and was the sole PSU that could leverage business potential and employment opportunities through Vizhinjam International Seaport. KSIE has more than 50 years of experience in handling air cargo as well as marine cargo. The PSU is now working on repositioning its strategy, besides diversifying activities.
A holding company under the Department of Industries & Commerce since 1973, KSIE is primarily mandated to nurse back and revive the sick units in the public sector. In 1993, KSIE delinked its subsidiaries, which became independent entities.
As of now, KSIE’s main areas of activity include cargo operations at the Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram airports, Kerala Soaps at Kozhikode, Cochin International Container Freight Station, Kalamassery, besides marketing through business centres in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Kochi, Kozhikode and Palakkad; and running the infrastructure division in the state capital.
