Thiruvananthapuram: 5,142 new cases of Covid-19 cases were reported in Kerala today even as 5,325 patients have recovered from the disease. 4,563 persons including 67 healthcare workers were infected through local transmission and the contact source of infection was unknown for 424.
In the meantime, 23 recent deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid and the death toll in the state is now 3,257.
59,569 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 8.63%. A total of 83,44,963 samples have been sent for testing till now.
At present, there are 64,236 patients undergoing treatment for Coronavirus infection in the state while a total of 7,33,384 people have so far recovered from the disease.
There are 1,98,270 persons totally under quarantine in various districts of the state, at home or institutional quarantine centres and in isolation at hospitals.
There are presently 440 hotspots in Kerala.
