Thiruvananthapuram: 5,397 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Kerala today along with 4,506 patient recoveries. 4,690 were locally transmitted cases with the source of infection unknown for 576. There was 46 medical or para-medical staff among those infected. In the meantime, 16 recent deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid and the related death toll in the state is now 2,930.
48,853 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 11.04%. A total of 76,13,415 samples have so far been sent for testing.
The district-wise numbers of the new positive cases are Kottayam 599, Kozhikode 588, Ernakulam 586, Pathanamthitta 543, Kollam 494, Malappuram 466, Thrissur 374, Alappuzha 357, Palakkad 303, Thiruvananthapuram 292, Kannur 266, Wayanad 259, Idukki 214 and Kasaragod 56. Of those diagnosed today, 85 have arrived in the state from outside.
The tally of those infected through contact in the districts is Kottayam 571, Kozhikode 547, Ernakulam 416, Pathanamthitta 447, Kollam 490, Malappuram 438, Thrissur 363, Alappuzha 339, Palakkad 163, Thiruvananthapuram 204, Kannur 209, Wayanad 250, Idukki 200 and Kasargod 53.
The count of the infected healthcare workers in the districts is Thiruvananthapuram 10, Kannur 9, Thrissur & Kozhikode 6 each, Ernakulam 4, Palakkad & Wayanad 3 each, Pathanamthitta 2, and Kollam, Idukki & Malappuram 1 each.
The district-wise figures of the patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 408, Kollam 218, Pathanamthitta 240, Alappuzha 224, Kottayam 485, Idukki 54, Ernakulam 601, Thrissur 594, Palakkad 200, Malappuram 508, Kozhikode 477, Wayanad 196, Kannur 252 and Kasaragod 49.
At present, there are 64,028 patients still undergoing treatment in the State while a total of 6,64,951 people have so far recovered from Covid.
There are 2,64,984 persons totally under isolation in various districts of the state – 2,51,299 under home or institutional quarantine and 13,685 under hospital observation. 1,367 people were admitted to the hospitals today.
Four places were demarcated as new hotspots today with no exclusions. There are 463 hotspots in Kerala now.
