Thiruvananthapuram: 5,792 new Covid-19 cases were confirmed in Kerala today while 6,620 patient recoveries were reported. 4,985 persons were infected through contact and contact source for 639 was unknown. There were 64 medical/para-medical staffers among those infected. In the meantime, 27 recent deaths were confirmed as being caused by Covid taking the related death toll in the State to 1,915.
56,157 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 10.31%. A total of 55,54,265 samples have so far been sent for testing.
The district-wise figures for those who tested positive today for Coronavirus are Malappuram 776, Kollam 682, Thrissur 667, Kozhikode 644, Ernakulam 613, Kottayam 429, Thiruvananthapuram 391, Palakkad 380, Alappuzha 364, Kannur 335, Pathanamthitta 202, Idukki 116, Wayanad 97 and Kasaragod 96. Of the cases detected, 104 have arrived in the state from outside.
The tally for the locally transmitted cases in the districts are Malappuram 734, Kollam 674, Thrissur 650, Kozhikode 603, Ernakulam 451, Kottayam 427, Thiruvananthapuram 286, Palakkad 177, Alappuzha 345, Kannur 248, Pathanamthitta 130, Idukki 86, Wayanad 82 and Kasargod 92.
The count of the infected healthcare workers from the districts are Ernakulam 15, Kozhikode 11, Pathanamthitta & Kannur 9 each; Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur & Malappuram 4 each, and Kollam, Palakkad, Wayanad & Kasargod 2 each.
The district-wise numbers of the patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 561, Kollam 622, Pathanamthitta 154, Alappuzha 397, Kottayam 501, Idukki 54, Ernakulam 588, Thrissur 723, Palakkad 820, Malappuram 497, Kozhikode 831, Wayanad 117, Kannur 625 and Kasaragod 130.
So far, a total of 4,61,394 people have recovered from Covid in Kerala even as 70,070 patients are still undergoing treatment for the same.
There are 3,20,023 people totally under isolation across the state – 3,03,218 under home or institutional quarantine and 16,805 in hospitals. 1,353 persons were admitted to the hospitals today.
Eight new hotspots were declared in Malappuram, Idukki, Thrissur, Kollam, Kasargod and Palakkad districts while nine areas were exempted. Presently, there are 599 hotspots in the State.
