Trivandrum: More than six years after the project was first announced, the Taurus downtown Technopark project ‘Downtown Trivandrum’ inches towards reality as the construction work was finally launched today by Chief Minister Shri Pinarayi Vijayan in Thiruvananthapuram.
With a proposed investment of Rs.1,500 crores, this is Taurus Investment Holdings’ first investment in India, together with its partners – Embassy Group and Asset Homes. Preliminary work, including test piling, is already underway and construction work is expected to start by the first week of November with an expected completion date in mid-2020.
The CM also unveiled a 3D model of Downtown Trivandrum project in the presence of Shri Shashi Tharoor MP; Prof. Lorenz Reibling, Chairman & Founding Partner, Taurus Investment Holdings; Jitu Virwani, CMD, Embassy Group and Sunil Kumar, MD, Asset Homes.
In his address, the CM said, “Ever since this government came to office, we have been making every effort to ensure that Technopark becomes a world-class facility by upgrading its capacities, setting up global industries, and attracting fresh talent. Our thrust on the IT sector has reflected in new projects in the industry coming up across the state of Kerala. A major move in this regard is being made today with the launch of this project.”
Downtown Trivandrum is a mixed-use project with 55 lakhs sq.ft of built-up space in 20 acres of land located within Phase 3 of Technopark. The project will consist of Embassy Taurus TechZone (ETTZ), Trivandrum – a state-of-the-art office complex encompassing 33 lakh sq. ft. of collaborative and healthy workspaces, Taurus Zentrum, Trivandrum – a 12 lakh sq. ft. world-class, retail and entertainment centre, Asset Taurus Identity – 315 units of serviced residences and a 200 key Business Hotel. Downtown Trivandrum is expected to pave the way for a true transformation of the city and will boost Kerala’s IT ecosystem.
ETTZ is expected to generate 30,000 plus direct jobs. Mexico-based cineplex major Cinepolis will set up Kerala’s largest multiplex with 15 cinema screens in Zentrum, including the State’s first IMAX screen.
