Trivandrum: Nepal is an ideal place for tourists from Kerala to indulge in adventure tourism and also as an investment destination across various sectors for those looking to invest abroad. Shri Bharat Kumar Regmi, Charge d’Affairs at the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi said this at an ‘Interactive session Tourism, Trade and Investment opportunities between Nepal and Kerala’ in Thiruvananthapuram today.
The session was organised by Nepal Embassy in association with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).
In his address, the Charge d’Affairs said this was the most opportune time to invest in Nepal and called upon entrepreneurs and investors to utilise this opportunity. “Nepal offers tax exemptions and security for foreign investments. There was good potential for mutual cooperation in several sectors. I hope there will be an extended level of cooperation between Nepal and Kerala in the coming days. For tourists, travelling to Nepal will offer a different treat of nature as compared to Kerala. The country is also a spiritual destination.”
Rani George IAS, Secretary, Department of Tourism, GoK, gave an overview of investment opportunities in Kerala, especially in the Tourism sector. “This is a good opportunity for tourists and tour operators as the geography across Nepal and Kerala are extremely different. While we can learn from their adventure tourism, they can learn from our responsible tourism.”
The Kerala Government has offered to train Nepal in local administration through KILA, sports training and promotion of adventure sports.
Shri Babu Ram Sigdyal, Second Secretary at the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi gave a presentation on ‘Tourism in Nepal’.
Office bearers and members of the FICCI Kerala State Council, the Kerala Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and the Trivandrum Chamber of Commerce & Industry were among those present for the session.
