CII hosts session to explore bilateral opportunities between Kerala & Belgium


Trivandrum: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised an interaction with Jayant Nadiger, Trade & Investment Commissioner of Flanders, Belgium in Thiruvananthapuram. The objective of this interactive session was to understand and explore the various bilateral business opportunities available between Industries in Kerala and Belgium.

As a Trade commissioner, Jayant is responsible for promoting exports of Flemish, Walloon and Brussels (under the trilateral agreement) technology, products and services. He briefed the members that Belgium has a combination of strongly focused research and innovation program, a highly educated and productive workforce with a fluency in languages, and a highly developed transport and communication infrastructure to ensure sustainable, profitable growth.

He stressed on the various sectoral strength of Flanders, Belgium that lie in Aerospace (including avionics, engines, structures, components, systems, software, equipment, design services, etc., among others), Logistics (including warehousing, distribution, ports and port management supplies and equipment) & Supply Chain Management, Information Technology (niche areas like Speech Technology) & semiconductor technologies, post-harvest Technologies (including food processing and packaging), Fashion, Precision Manufacturing and Engineering, Environment Technologies, Financial Services and other service sectors.

The industrial members of CII then briefed the commissioner on the various businesses functioning in Kerala and also possibilities of replicating the same in Belgium with the support of Government.

The Trade & Investment Commissioner also explained the various procedural aspects involved in making such bilateral agreements and also assured his full support for Kerala industries in making this possible.
