Trivandrum: Ethiopia has invited businessmen from Kerala to invest in their country. Speaking at a session on ‘Doing Business in Ethiopia’ organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Kerala in Thiruvananthapuram; Asfaw Dingamo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in New Delhi gave an overview of the opportunities available in his country.
Briefing the select audience about the trade relationship between India and Ethiopia, Ambassador Asfaw Dingamo said that India is the second biggest investor after China in Ethiopia. “The economy of Ethiopia is fast growing and the country is the second largest country in African Continent. The economy of West is challenging while the economy of Asia and Africa is booming and promising.” He also praised the spirit of Indian Entrepreneurs and added that the Ethiopians have a huge respect to the Indians.
Molalign Asfaw, Minister – Counsellor I, Embassy of Ethiopia spoke about the various investment opportunities available in Ethiopia. He stressed that Ethiopia is the most stable country in Africa and politically safe. “Our country is developing in double digits for the past 12 years consecutively and the Government is creating 12 industrial corridors with single window system in order to provide a hassle free entry in business. 600 Indian companies are already invested in Ethiopia and they are doing well.”
“The Government is encouraging the investors in various sectors such as Agro processing, Textile & Apparels, Pharmaceutical Industry, Chemical Industry, Engineering, Bio Technology, ICT, Packaging and Hospitality. India and Ethiopia is well connected by having flight connectivity four times a day,” he added while responding to queries from the participants.
