Trivandrum: C R Sasikumar has taken over as the Managing Director of the Thiruvananthapuram based State Bank of Travancore (SBT). SBT is the only public sector bank to have its headquarters in Kerala.
Starting his career as a Probationary Officer with State bank of India in 1978, he has held several key assignments, such as Regional Manager at Ahmedabad, Deputy General Manager at Local Head Office, Mumbai; MD & CEO of SBI SG Global Securities; and as Chief General Manager at LHO, Hyderabad. He has also had an overseas assignment heading the China Operations of SBI from Shanghai. Prior to the present posting in SBT, he has been Deputy Managing Director, Inspection & Management Audit at the extended office of SBI Corporate Centre at Hyderabad.
Assuming the chair of Managing Director, Sasikumar said, “The immediate priority for me would be the management of NPAs and achieving the advance growth of Rs. 12,000 crores and deposit growth of Rs. 16,000 crores, which the bank has set as its Policy Objective for 2016-17. I am happy that last years’ financial result was a satisfying one under very trying circumstances. We shall focus more on retail loans this year and try to acquire a higher share of MSME segment in Kerala”.
A native of Ranni, Sasikumar had his schooling at the Sainik School, Thiruvananthapuram and completed his college education from St. Thomas College, Pathanamthitta.
Sasikumar takes over as the MD of SBT at a time when the State Bank of India has decided to take over the State Bank of Travancore and four other associate banks, and merge them with SBI.
