Kochi: Federal Bank has come out with a new initiative for its customers to pay their periodic telephone and water bills automatically by debit to their savings account maintained with the Bank.
Customers of the Bank who are subscribers of BSNL (Kerala) and Kerala Water Authority (KWA) can avail the service through a one-time registration process which is SMS-based. Once registered, the bank will periodically collect the bill details, as and when due, directly from BSNL and KWA, and make the payment by debit to the customer’s account automatically.
This is an end-to-end automated process wherein a customer can register multiple bills with the Bank for auto-payment. Whenever the customers wish to disable the service, they can do it themselves just by sending another SMS to the bank.
According to a release from the bank, to register for Auto-payment of BSNL (Kerala) Telephone bills, customers should send an SMS from their registered mobile to 9895088888 in the format ACTBILL<space>BSNL<space>circle location<space> Landline Number with STD Code/Mobile Number<Space>BSNL Account Number<space>last three digits of the Federal Bank account number.
To register for Auto-payment of KWA bills, the SMS format is ACTBILL<space>KWA <space>consumerID <space>Consumer no.<space>Last three digits of the Federal bank Account number. The SMS has to be sent to 9895088888 from their registered mobile number.
Announcing the service, Babu K A, Head – Digital Banking said, “SMS based Auto-pay service is yet another innovative digital offering from Federal Bank that enhances customer convenience in paying their routine telephone and water bills. Customers can avail the service without having to visit the Bank or BSNL/KWA office. Also the service can be availed even using a basic mobile handset.”
