CII to organise seminar on consumer rights in Trivandrum


Trivandrum: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organising a seminar on ‘Consumer Rights: Products & Services – Opportunities & Challenges’ on May 30, 2014 at Thiruvananthapuram.

The seminar will be held to educate today’s Consumer on their rights and what they need to consider while choosing a particular products. New high tech products and complex services are accompanied by high flown technical jargon and mumbo jumbo, which is very confusing. Intense competition has inevitably led to power selling, while each vendor highlighting their “features” and touting their value.

According to CII, the deliberations on current issues pertaining to Consumer rights prevailing at present in India and particularly in Kerala, the various initiatives being taken up by Government of Kerala to protect consumer rights in the state and the Way Forward on Consumer Rights protection. The seminar will bring together Policymakers, Industry, Consumer Forums, Civil Society, Media and other diverse stakeholders on the same platform to deliberate on consumer rights

The topics that will be covered at the seminar include ‘Consumer Protection, Misleading Promotions & Liability, Alternate Dispute Redressal Mechanism, International Consumer Policy and Standardization.
