IRRDB, World Rubber body to meet at Kovalam


Kottayam: The International Rubber Research and Development Board (IRRDB), the research and development platform of natural rubber producing countries, is conducting its Annual Meetings 2012 and 10th International Rubber Conference (IRC) at Kovalam. The IRC will be held during October 29 – 31, 2012 and the IRRDB Annual Meetings on November 1 & 2. The Indian Rubber Board is hosting the IRRDB Annual Meetings and IRC, this year.

More than 400 delegates including representations from natural rubber producing countries, growers, nursery owners, industrialists, agri-input distributors and persons from other related areas will participate in the conference.

The conference will have two days of intensive deliberations focusing on ‘Challenges to Rubber Industry’ on the first day and ‘Farm Mechanization’ on the second day.  A field trip will be arranged on the third day to visit the rubber holdings and Rubber Producers’ Societies in Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu. Meeting of the directors, CEOs and liaison officers of IRRDB will be held on November 1 and the meetings of the Board will be held on November 2.

The IRRDB brings together various agencies, organizations and research institutes associated with natural rubber (NR) in the NR producing countries of the world.  IRRDB covers all aspects of NR from cultivation of rubber to development of products, trade related issues and environmental concerns.

IRRDB, with its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has 19 countries on its membership roll and another half a dozen organizations are its associate members. IRRDB member countries cover more than 95 per cent of the world NR production.
