Trivandrum: A comprehensive Games Management system covering all the key functional areas is being put in place to help run the 35th National Games, to be held in Kerala from January 31 to February 14, 2015.
IT services will range from Accreditation of nearly 30,000 participants (including athletes, coaches, managers, officials, volunteers and organizing team members) to the Results Management spanning schedules, draw, results and medals tally at various venues.
The software modules that have been developed and presently undergoing customization and testing include Venue access, Volunteer management, Catering control, Transportation and Fleet control, and Arrival, Departure and Accommodation planning and control. The system will also be capable of interfacing with Timing Devices (Timing, Scoring & Results, also known as TSR) and Scoreboards at venues for displaying information. It will also interface graphically with Host TV broadcaster. Online web publishing and SMS-based publishing of results will also be enabled.
According to the National Games Organising Committee (NGOC), the assessment of Hardware and Networking components requirement has been completed and procurement is under way. All IT systems at each venue will be intra-connected through a LAN and inter-stadia connectivity with the Central Control Centre and Network Management Control Room will be through a WAN. Connectivity will also be provided to the Media Centre. A Data centre and 24×7 Call Centre would also be functional 30 days ahead of the Games.
The 35th National Games will be the one of the most logistically complex multi-sport Games ever with venues across Kerala. Without a secure, networked information processing and communication system, it would be practically impossible to manage and conduct an event of this nature and size. A large in-house ICT team is being formed under the NGOC, which will be handling infrastructure and site preparation, authentication of data and records entered, identifying users of various applications, formation of core training team, induction and training of volunteers, data entry operators and supervisors, and for coordination with the various other functional Committees. The team will also manage the information for the Call centre.
The IT support for the Games is provided by CMC Ltd, Hyderabad. CMC has a proven track record of sports event management experience.
