Kochi: The Infopark at Koratty, near Thrissur, being developed as one of the two satellite centres of Infopark Kochi, is expected to add another 3,000 job opportunities in the next two years with the completion of new 3.3 lakh sq. ft. IT block by March 2015.
Major expansion plans by startups and mid segment IT firms at the campus are also fuelling the growth of the park, which is situated amidst the lush green surroundings of Koratty. Currently, the park houses 29 companies with around 600 employees. The facility, Kerala’s first satellite centre set up under the much applauded Hub and Spoke model of Infopark Kochi, boasts of higher employee retention rate than similar parks in other metropolitan cities.
Hrishikesh Nair, CEO of Infopark said, “It is encouraging to see that the companies are expanding and are looking for new growth avenues. The work on the new 3.3 lakh sq. ft. IT block is progressing and it is expected to be ready for operations by March 2015. The park has received around dozen advance bookings for office space at the new building which, when completed, will generate an additional 3,000 plus employment. A gymnasium, a women’s hostel and other recreational facilities are also in the pipeline inside the campus.”
“The Infopark brand, the park’s proximity to Cochin international airport and the national highway are the major factors that drew us to establish business here”, said Hari Krishnan, Co-founder of ZineMind Technologies. “The company is scaling up its staff strength and will set up an additional operational facility in the new IT facility once it is completed.”
“We started at the park as a start-up firm and now have a turnover of Rs. 1.2 crore,” said Abin Jose Tom, CEO of Web and Crafts. “We will be increasing the employee headcount to 60 from the current 17 in one year.”
“Thrissur has a lot of engineering colleges and we have been able to get right people,” said Mohanakannan P K, Business Head of Nuvento Systems. “We are planning to hire more freshers in the coming months and scale up our cadre strength to 100 as part of our expansion at the park.”
