Thiruvananthapuram: In a significant step to enter the health and food supplements sector, the Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, known by the brand Milma, has launched a protein-rich dietary supplement for the first time, along with two coffee-based milkshakes.
Minister for Animal Husbandry & Dairy Development, Smt J Chinchurani, unveiled the protein drink Nutrilevel. She also launched Milma’s two milkshakes, Café Mocha and Cold Coffee, catering to the tastes of the younger generation. Nutrilevel is available in a 200 ml packet, while Cold Coffee and Café Mocha are available in 180 ml cans.
In her address, the Minister said the launch of Nutrilevel is a vital step by Milma, as diabetic patients can also consume the protein-rich health supplement. Referring to Milma’s pivotal role in the government’s efforts to attain self-sufficiency in milk production, the Minister said Milma spends 85 per cent of its profits for the welfare of dairy farmers through milk cooperative societies.
Milma Chairman, Shri KS Mani, said apart from business aspirations, there is a social commitment behind the launch of the healthy protein drink Nutrilevel. “Milma launches new products as part of its diversification to attract consumers, but the health drink will be highly beneficial for diabetic patients and fitness-conscious people. This product has the potential to trigger a far-reaching transformation in the health sector, adding a golden feather in the cap of Milma.”
Milk is the base of Nutrilevel, a nutritious meal replacer. It is a combination of protein, lactose, sucrose, minerals and vitamins. One packet of Nutrilevel protein drink with vanilla flavour contains 14 g of protein, which helps support muscle health and energy levels. This chemical and preservative-free sterilised drink will have a one-year shelf life. Unlike flavoured milk drinks, Café Mocha and Cold Coffee are thick and tasty milkshakes available in attractive tins.
