Thiruvananthapuram: Showcasing the state’s world-class and affordable medical services, Kerala Medical Value Travel Society (KMVTS) today launched a web portal, aligning with the State Government’s initiatives to tap into Kerala’s huge potential in medical tourism.
The web portal (https://kmvts.kerala.gov.in/) is developed under the vision of KSIDC to ramp up medical value tourism. It features all information, including that of major hospitals, doctors and services available, travel guide and medical visa procedures.
“Already a sought-after medical tourism destination, Kerala has set an immediate target of capturing at least 10% of India’s USD 8 billion medical value tourism market,” said A P M Mohamed Hanish, Principal Secretary – Industries. “Kerala‘s potential in the segment is appreciated by the global community owing to all good reasons, including availability of highly skilled health care professionals, world-class medical facilities and competitive treatment costs. Now, we are aiming to further strengthen our position in this area, especially with the support of KMVTS and KSIDC.”
Announced at the fifth Kerala Health Summit in 2015, KMVTS is modelled on the successful Kerala Travel Mart, aiming to promote Kerala’s healthcare offerings globally, he noted. The main objective of KMVTS is to transform Kerala into a Global Tourism hub by 2030 through global campaigns, medical seminars, showcasing the state’s potential in medical tourism, etc.
He also added that KMVTS should try to emulate the success of Invest Kerala Global Summit, organised by KSIDC earlier this year, which saw 25 per cent of project proposals already reaching the construction stage within months.
With the launch of the web portal, the state’s robust medical travel ecosystem received a further boost as it carries information about all major hospitals and services on an easy-to-access digital platform, said Vishnuraj P, Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) Managing Director.
KSIDC Executive Director, Harikrishnan R; Santhosh Koshy, Managing Director, KINFRA; Vinod Y R, Group Head, KIMS; Dr. Adithya, Executive Director, SP Medifort (Secretary, KMVTS); Reshma S A, Head of Marketing, Amrita; Jayachandran MV, Assistant General Manager, Aster Hospital and other stakeholders were also present on the occasion.
