Trivandrum: The Thiruvananthapuram-based National Coir Research and Management Institute (NCRMI), an institution under the Department of Coir, Government of Kerala; is all set to launch five new products that would support the coir industry. Minister for Industries & Coir, Shri P Rajeev will launch these products on January 03.
A Digital Coir Runnage Meter, CocoAura – a chemical-free air freshener made from coco pith, Coconurture – an organic potting filler, Tricopith Pro – a product that expedites composting, and Coir divider – road dividers made of coir coco logs, are the innovative products being launched by NCRMI.
The Digital Coir Runnage Meter is an innovative creation by NCRMI that stands as a breakthrough in the coir industry, transforming the traditional method of manually measuring runnage. This accurate, user-friendly, and low-maintenance testing instrument has been engineered to redefine the efficiency of runnage determination for coir yarn. “By automating and simplifying the runnage measurement process, the digital coir runnage meter significantly reduces both time and labour, allowing the runnage of coir yarn to be precisely measured in less than a minute. Equipped with a pre-programmed microcontroller and an optical encoder, the Digital Coir Runnage Meter boasts high accuracy in analyzing the runnage of coir yarn”, said C Abhishek, Director of NCRMI.
CocoAura offers a safe and chemical-free solution to invigorate your indoor spaces. It’s meticulously crafted from Cocopith, a natural material sourced from coconut husk, making it an excellent choice for areas where children spend their time. Cocoaura possesses antimicrobial and antifungal characteristics and the capability for controlled release diffusion. “Even after the product’s useful life has ended, the Coir pith/ fibre used in the air fresheners can find a second life enriching gardening soil. The product is engineered to elevate composting, focusing on crushed tender coconut and coir pith. Coconurture is a breakthrough in organic potting fillers formulated by the NCRMI. Developed based on the success of rigorous field trials, Coconurture is a meticulously crafted blend of crushed tender coconut husks, coir pith compost, farmyard manure, Trichoderma, and soil in minimal proportions.
