Kochi: Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) is all set to launch its classy Business Jet Terminal unveiling the World of Affordable Chartered Flying. Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the elegantly designed terminal on 10th December 2022.
CIAL’s business Jet Terminal is going to be India’s first charter gateway; which will serve as a platform to integrate business jet service, tourism and business conferences. CIAL currently operates two terminals; T-1 handles the domestic traffic and T-3 facilitates international traffic. With the commissioning of the Business Jet terminal, which is constructed at the erstwhile domestic terminal (T2), CIAL will join the elite club of four airports in the country having a dedicated private jet terminal.
CIAL’s Business Jet terminal is compatible for operating both domestic and international private jets. With luxurious interiors and well-appointed relaxing spaces spread over 40,000 sq ft, the business jet terminal is all set to welcome passengers in a classy ambience. The facilities include covered car parking, drive-in porches, a grand lobby, five opulent lounges, a Business Centre, check-in, Immigration, Customs, Health and Security checking zones along with a Duty-free shop and foreign exchange counter for the smooth movement of discerning guests. The terminal facility also includes a safe house for the security privileged category of guests. The cost-effective terminal incorporates affordability in Business Jet operation.
Despite the financial and operational constraints induced by the pandemic, CIAL has taken up airport infrastructure projects eying future growth. The development of a business jet terminal out of the existing Terminal 2 is one among them. CIAL considers the operationalization of the business jet terminal as a part of its commitment to identify and activate new revenue verticals. It enhances CIAL’s ethos, of providing a world-class passenger terminal experience at an affordable cost, to another level. An exclusive terminal for handling the chartered/ business jets wherein the guests are provided with luxurious personal amenities in an elegantly designed private space completed at a cost of Rs.30 Cr. Team CIAL could convert the departure portion of the erstwhile domestic terminal into a magnificent private jet terminal in a record time of 10 months.
