App-based taxi services to operate from Trivandrum airport

Trivandrum: In an endeavour to enhance the service experience of passengers at the Thiruvananthapuram airport, Adani Thiruvananthapuram International Airport Ltd. (TIAL) has announced the facility of app-based cab services at both domestic and international terminals of the airport.

According to a press release from TIAL, this facility is in addition to the transport service of 318 pre-paid taxis that are available at the airport. App-based cab service from TIAL is a long pending demand of the passengers. Now the service is available 24/7. All preparations were made to ensure uninterrupted service for the passengers. The dedicated Pre-paid taxi counters are available 24/7 in both terminals.

The move to introduce app-based cab/taxi service at the airport is part of the recent passenger-friendly initiatives that are being rolled out at the Trivandrum airport after TIAL took over the operations and management of the airport. Lately, the minimum parking fees in both terminals were reduced to Rs. 30 for 30 minutes.

It may be recalled here that earlier, prepaid taxi unions at the Thiruvananthapuram airport had opposed and blocked app-based taxi/cab services like Uber and Ola from entering the airport. Following the intervention of the State government, app-based taxi/cab services were allowed to drop the passengers at the airport. However, they could not pick up passengers from inside the airport premises. Passengers who wished to avail of such services had to go outside the airport to catch the cab.
