Thiruvananthapuram: Covid-19 was confirmed in 3,047 persons in Kerala today even as 4,172 patients recovered from the disease. 2,707 people including 30 healthcare workers were infected through contact and the contact source of infection for 275 was unknown. 14 recent deaths were confirmed today as caused by Covid taking the death toll in the state to 2,990.
32,869 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 9.27%. So far, a total of 77,27,986 samples have been sent for testing.
The numbers of the new positive cases in the districts are Malappuram 504, Kozhikode 399, Ernakulam 340, Thrissur 294, Kottayam 241, Palakkad 209, Alappuzha 188, Thiruvananthapuram 188, Kollam 174, Wayanad 160, Idukki 119, Kannur 103, Pathanamthitta 91 and Kasaragod 37. Of those diagnosed with the disease, 35 have arrived in the state from outside.
The count of the locally transmitted disease in the districts are Malappuram 478, Kozhikode 387, Ernakulam 322, Thrissur 286, Kottayam 227, Palakkad 83, Alappuzha 182, Thiruvananthapuram 112, Kollam 170, Wayanad 150, Idukki 104, Kannur 87, Pathanamthitta 84 and Kasargod 35.
The tally of the infected healthcare personnel from the districts are Wayanad 7, Thiruvananthapuram & Kannur 5 each, Palakkad 4, Ernakulam 3, Kollam & Kozhikode 2 each, and Malappuram & Thrissur 1 each.
The district-wise figures for the patients whose test results were negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 262, Kollam 311, Pathanamthitta 203, Alappuzha 203, Kottayam 301, Idukki 49, Ernakulam 536, Thrissur 676, Palakkad 301, Malappuram 629, Kozhikode 417, Wayanad 72, Kannur 176 and Kasaragod 36.
At present, there are 64,028 patients still undergoing treatment for Coronavirus infection while a total of 6,76,368 people have so far been cured of the disease in the state.
There are 2,50,174 persons totally under isolation in various districts of the state – 2,37,460 under home or institutional quarantine and 12,714 in hospitals. 1,116 people were admitted to the hospitals today.
With one new hotspot and two exclusions, the number of hotspots in Kerala is now 465.
