Thiruvananthapuram: Covid-19 was detected in 5,177 persons in Kerala today. 4,542 persons including 52 healthcare workers were infected through contact and the contact source of infection was unknown for 475. At the same time, 4,801 patients have recovered from the disease.
Meanwhile, 22 deaths in the last few days were confirmed today as due to Covid taking the death toll in the state to 2,914.
56,073 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 9.23%. So far, a total of 75,64,562 samples have been sent for testing.
The district-wise figures for the new positive cases are Thrissur 591, Kollam 555, Ernakulam 544, Kozhikode 518, Kottayam 498, Malappuram 482, Pathanamthitta 405, Thiruvananthapuram 334, Palakkad 313, Alappuzha 272, Kannur 263, Wayanad 165, Idukki 153 and Kasaragod 84. Today, 108 of those diagnosed with the disease have arrived in the state from outside.
The count for the locally transmitted cases in the districts are Thrissur 577, Kollam 544, Ernakulam 412, Kozhikode 483, Kottayam 473, Malappuram 469, Pathanamthitta 310, Thiruvananthapuram 241, Palakkad 186, Alappuzha 268, Kannur 200, Wayanad 159, Idukki 142 and Kasaragod 78.
The tally of the infected healthcare personnel from the districts are Thiruvananthapuram 8, Kozhikode 7; Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam & Kannur 6 each, Kollam 5, Thrissur 4, Kottayam & Wayanad 3 each, Palakkad 2, and Malappuram & Kasaragod 1.
The district-wise numbers of the patients whose test results were negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 310, Kollam 215, Pathanamthitta 228, Alappuzha 202, Kottayam 493, Idukki 241, Ernakulam 979, Thrissur 292, Palakkad 272, Malappuram 419, Kozhikode 599, Wayanad 179, Kannur 279 and Kasaragod 93.
Till now, a total of 6,60,445 people have recovered from Covid in Kerala even as 63,155 patients are still undergoing treatment for the same.
There are currently 2,70,725 people under observation in various districts of the state – 2,57,013 at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 13,712 in hospitals. 1,645 person were admitted to the hospitals today.
Three places were demarcated as new hotspots today while four areas were excluded. Now there are 459 hotspots in the State.
