Thiruvananthapuram: 6,169 new Covid-19 cases were confirmed in Kerala today even as 4,808 patients recovered from the disease. 5,349 were locally transmitted cases and the contact source for infection was unknown for 662. There are 60 healthcare workers among those infected. Meanwhile, 22 recent deaths were confirmed today as caused by Covid and the death toll in the State is now 2,892.
61,437 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 10.04%. A total of 75,08,489 samples have so far been sent for testing.
The district-wise figures for those who tested positive today for Coronavirus infection are Ernakulam 953, Kottayam 642, Kozhikode 605, Thrissur 564, Malappuram 500, Kollam 499, Alappuzha 431, Pathanamthitta 406, Thiruvananthapuram 404, Palakkad 367, Wayanad 260, Idukki 242, Kannur 228 and Kasaragod 68. Of those diagnosed, 98 have arrived in the state from outside.
The tally of those infected through contact in the districts are Ernakulam 728, Kottayam 595, Kozhikode 577, Thrissur 546, Malappuram 467, Kollam 490, Alappuzha 423, Pathanamthitta 319, Thiruvananthapuram 284, Palakkad 196, Wayanad 250, Idukki 237, Kannur 176 and Kasargod 61.
The count of the infected medical or para-medical staff from the districts is Thiruvananthapuram 12, Thrissur 10, Ernakulam 9, Pathanamthitta 7, Palakkad 6, Wayanad & Kannur 5 each, Kozhikode 3, Kasaragod 2 and Kollam 1.
The district-wise numbers for the patients who tested negative today are Thiruvananthapuram 312, Kollam 186, Pathanamthitta 201, Alappuzha 270, Kottayam 530, Idukki 205, Ernakulam 709, Thrissur 420, Palakkad 356, Malappuram 570, Kozhikode 640, Wayanad 152, Kannur 151 and Kasargod 106.
At present, there are 62,802 patients undergoing treatment for the disease while 6,55,644 people have totally recovered from Covid in the State so far.
There are currently 2,74,206 people under isolation across the state – 2,60,645 under home or institutional quarantine and 13,561 in hospitals. 1,482 persons were admitted to the hospitals today.
Nine places were declared as hotspots today while seven areas were excluded. There are 460 hotspots in Kerala now.
