Thiruvananthapuram: Covid-19 was confirmed in 6,010 persons in Kerala today while 6,698 patients have recovered from the disease. 5,188 people were infected through contact and the contact source for 653 was not traceable. 69 medical and paramedical personnel were among those infected. Meanwhile, 28 recent deaths were confirmed today as due to Covid taking the death toll in the State to 1,742.
During the last 24 hours, 54,751 samples were tested with a test positivity rate of 10.98%. A total of 51,85,673 samples have so far been sent for testing.
The district-wise figures for those who tested positive today for Coronavirus are Kozhikode 807, Thrissur 711, Malappuram 685, Alappuzha 641, Ernakulam 583, Thiruvananthapuram 567, Kollam 431, Kottayam 426, Palakkad 342, Kannur 301, Pathanamthitta 234, Wayanad 112, Idukki 89 and Kasaragod 81. Of those diagnosed, 100 are those who are now in Kerala from outside the state.
The numbers for the locally transmitted cases from the districts are Kozhikode 759, Thrissur 685, Malappuram 645, Alappuzha 628, Ernakulam 375, Thiruvananthapuram 436, Kollam 425, Kottayam 420, Palakkad 182, Kannur 220, Pathanamthitta 180, Wayanad 104, Idukki 57 and Kasargod 72.
The figures for the infected healthcare workers from the districts are Thiruvananthapuram & Kozhikode 12 each, Malappuram 9; Ernakulam, Thrissur & Kannur 8 each; and Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Idukki, Palakkad, Wayanad & Kasaragod 2 each.
The district-wise count of the patients who tested negative today is Thiruvananthapuram 580, Kollam 485, Pathanamthitta 175, Alappuzha 559, Kottayam 361, Idukki 105, Ernakulam 1,078, Thrissur 1,088, Palakkad 413, Malappuram 545, Kozhikode 798, Wayanad 135, Kannur 177 and Kasargod 199.
A total of 4,15,158 persons have so far been cured of Covid in the State while there are 78,694 patients currently undergoing treatment for the same.
There are 3,16,359 people under isolation in various districts of the state – 2,97,041 under home or institutional quarantine and 19,318 in hospitals. 2,039 persons were admitted to the hospitals today.
11 new hotspots were declared in Malappuram, Pathanamthitta, Kollam and Ernakulam districts even as seven areas were excluded. At present, there are 616 hotspots in the State.
