Kochi: The State Forum of Bankers’ Clubs Kerala Awards for 2013 were distributed at the 5th Annual Award presentation night of the State Forum of Bankers’ Club, Kerala held in Kochi earlier this week. The awards are given to top performers in public, private and new generation banks, based on criteria like growth, profitability and performance.
Industrialist P N C Menon of the Bangalore based Sobha Group won the ‘Businessman of the year’ award, instituted by the State Forum of Bankers Clubs Kerala (SFBCK).
The Bank of Maharashtra was adjudged the Best Performing Public Sector Bank while the Syndicate Bank was the first runner up followed by the State Bank of India. The South Indian Bank bagged the ‘Best Performing Bank of Kerala’ award. IndusInd Bank Ltd and HDFC Bank won the awards in the ‘New Generation Bank’ category.
M Anjaney Prasad, Executive Director of Syndicate Bank received the Banking Excellence Award 2013 for the second best Public Sector Bank in overall performance from Shri K Babu, Minister for Excise, Fisheries and Ports, Government of Kerala,
The banking excellence award jury was headed by Justice V R Krishna Iyer and M V Nair, former chairman of the Union Bank of India. The jury acknowledged P N C Menon as a socially-responsible business man considering his valuable contribution to the country and society.
P P Suresh, President, State Forum of Bankers Club, Kerala; K U Balakrishnan, General Secretary, State Forum of Bankers Club, Kerala, and Dr. V A Joseph, MD & CEO, South Indian Bank, were among those present on the occasion.
