Trivandrum: Industries Minister Shri P K Kunhalikutty presented the awards for the best performing Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) from State owned Enterprises under the Industries Department for 2011-12, at a function held in Thiruvananthapuram.
Kerala Minerals & Metals Limited (KMML) bagged the award for the best PSU in the production (manufacturing) sector with turnover above Rs.100 crore and the award for best CEO was received by former KMML MD, Alkesh Sharma IAS.
Keltron Electro Ceramics Limited was the best PSU in the production sector with turnover below Rs.50 crore and its GM, K Vijaya Kumar got the CEO’s award.
Kerala State Development Corporation (KSIDC) got the award in the non-production (non-manufacturing) sector and its former MD, Alkesh Sharma once again bagged the CEO’s award.
The dividend (profit) from KMML, Malabar Cements Ltd, Kerala State Industrial Enterprises Limited (KSIE), Transformers & Electricals Kerala Ltd (TELK), KSIDC, Steel and Industrial Forgings Ltd (SIFL) and Kerala Clays & Ceramics Ltd for the year 2011-12 was handed over to V P Joy IAS, Principal Secretary – Finance.
In his remarks, the Minister said, “The functioning of PSUs in the State have been streamlined and the State Government is moving ahead with improving their performance. e-Procurement and e-Tendering in PSUs under the Industries Department will ensure more transparency”. He also asked the PSUs to look for new tie-ups, linkages and innovative ideas to stay afloat and face the competition.
V Somasundaram IAS, Additional Chief Secretary – Industries; K S Sreenivas IAS, Secretary – Industries and heads of several PSUs were present on the occasion.
