KSEB rolls out online bill payment, launch on Apr 23

Trivandrum: The online bill payment facility for the Low Tension (LT) consumers of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) will be formally launched on April 23, 2013 by Chief Minister Shri Oommen Chandy and the State Electricity Minister, Shri Aryadan Mohammed. KSEB had rolled out the online bill view and pay facility for customers across the State, earlier this month, on a pilot basis.

This followed the successful implementation of the online bill payment system for LT consumers in Thiruvananthapuram district in March. The online bill e-payment for KSEB’s High Tension and Extra High Tension (HT/EHT) customers was launched in July 2011.

The regular household (LT) consumers can avail the online services to view and pay the bill by accessing KSEB’s website kseb.in. The Consumer number, Bill Number, Email id and/or Mobile Number have to be entered to view the bill details. The payment can be made by Net Banking, Credit Card or Debit Card using the Payment Gateway Site which offers secure payment facility. There is a nominal transaction charge for making the e-payment. Once payment is completed, the transaction details will be displayed and users can take printout of the same. The details will also be sent to the given Email id / Mobile.

The online e-payment and billing system (Oruma) for LT customers has been designed, developed and implemented in-house by KSEB’s MIS and IT unit using Free and Open Source Software (FOSS).

TCS had implemented the billing computerisation, collection, accounting and service connection registration of HT/EHT consumers at a cost of Rs.1.98 crores. There has been considerable delay in rolling out the online bill payment facility for LT consumers.
