Mar Ivanios College Platinum celebrations finale on Dec 30

Thiruvananthapuram: The year-long Platinum Jubilee celebrations of city based Mar Ivanios Autonomous College will conclude on December 30, 2025. The Vice President of India, Shri C P Radhakrishnan, will be the chief guest at the celebrations to be held at the Mar Ivanios Stadium.

Kerala Governor, Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlerkar; Chief Minister, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan; Cardinal Mar Baselios Cleemis; Shri Shashi Tharoor MP; and other dignitaries are also expected to be present. The Vice President will also lay the foundation stone of the research centre to be built in connection with the Platinum Jubilee.

This was announced by Cardinal Mar Baselios Cleemis while addressing a press conference today. Giving a background, he said, “Mar Ivanios College, affiliated to the University of Travancore, was established in June 1949 at Nalanchira by Mar Ivanios Metropolitan. Starting with just 145 students, currently three thousand students are studying in the college, which offers 18 undergraduate degree courses, nine post-graduate courses and research facilities in six subjects.”

The college has grown to become one of the best colleges in the country over the past 75 years. Mar Ivanios College was the first college under the University of Kerala to receive NAAC accreditation. In 2014, the college was elevated to autonomous status. Mar Ivanios College is now one of the top 50 colleges in the country. The college received the highest grade of A++ in the 5th cycle inspection of NAAC held in 2024.

Principal, Dr Meera George, said that four international seminars, 25 national and regional seminars, various intercollegiate fests and publication of three journals were the highlights of the platinum jubilee celebrations.

Fr Thomas Kayyalackal, Bursar and the Vice-Principals of the college were also present.
