Kottayam: The Kottayam-based Rubber Board under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India today announced that India has been elected as the new Chairman of the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) in the 45th Assembly meetings of the ANRPC.
Shri M Vasanthagesan, Executive Director of the Rubber Board, took over the charge from the present Chairman, Dato Zailani Bin Haji Hashim, Deputy Secretary General, Ministry of Plantations & Commodities of the Malaysian government.
The ANRPC (Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries) is an inter-governmental organization of natural rubber-producing countries. The membership is open to the governments of countries producing natural rubber. Currently, 13 countries, including India, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam are members of this global association. The member countries of the ANRPC account for 84 per cent of global natural rubber production. India hosted the ANRPC annual meetings 2023, held in Guwahati from 09 to 13 October 2023.
