TIAL procures electric vehicles as part of its ‘Airport Carbon Accreditation’ plan

Trivandrum: Adani Thiruvananthapuram International Airport Ltd. has announced that in its endeavour to achieve Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) Level 4+ in the short term and net-zero status in the long term, the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport has procured four electric vehicles.

These vehicles will be used by the engineering & maintenance teams and the landside operations team at the airport for their routine work.  The advantage of using electric vehicles is that they will help the airport reduce its carbon emission and thereby reduce the carbon footprint that the facility generates.

This switch to electric vehicles is part of a larger plan drawn by the airport to convert all its fossil fuel-driven vehicles to electric vehicles, wherever the electric vehicle option is available going forward by March 2025. Plans are afoot to set up EV charging stations for passengers and stakeholders. The work is in progress and to be commissioned soon.
