Hilton Garden Inn, Trivandrum hosts ‘Slice of Italy’ food fest

Trivandrum: Hilton Garden Inn, Trivandrum is currently hosting an Italian food festival for the connoisseurs of Italian cuisine in the capital city. The two weeks long fest named ‘Slice of Italy’, as part of the dinner buffet, at their Garden Grille restaurant would conclude on March 26, 2017.

Interacting with Kerala Biz News, Kiran Jerome, Sales Manager, Hilton Garden Inn, Trivandrum said, “The ‘Slice of Italy’ food festival is an important event in our promotional calendar. This is an occasion for the foodies in Thiruvananthapuram to enjoy some authentic Italian cuisine. Along with the regular buffet, it is also a chance for newbies to try our Italian stuff. Last month we had the Konkan food fest which was well received and next month we plan to have the Kebabs and Tandoori nights.”

Giving details about the menu, Gopinath, Sous Chef, Hilton Garden Inn, Trivandrum said, “Italian food is very diverse in nature. Each of the twenty Italian regions has a distinctive set of flavours, recipes, products, and ingredients. We have tried to showcase few selected dishes every day. There are three live counters – a live Bruschetta station, a Sandwich station and a live Pizza & Pasta station – for starters. The salad section features three distinct Italian salads. The main course of the buffet would have six prominent dishes – a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies. The menu would change every day as we have a set of seven different menus. The dessert section has few typical Italian treats. An Italian marketplace featuring different types of pasta, spaghetti, olives, olive oil, vegetables and fruits has also been set up in the lobby to add flavour to the promotional event.”

For the media tasting event, apart from the soups and starters, the menu for the buffet included Baked Fish with Italian Vegetables, Pasta Salad with Spicy cocktail Sauce and Spicy Aubergine with raw Mango Salsa for salads. The main course dishes were Garbanzo Aubergine Parmigiana, Gnocchi Napoletana, Stuffed Eggplant with Bolognese and melted Cream Sauce, Carote Al Sughillo, Potate Al Pomoorg and Chicken Florentine. Italian Love Cake, Cassata and Chocolate Panforte were some of the attractions at the Dessert section.
