Kochi: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Kerala is organizing a one day workshop on ‘Material & Inventory Management’ on 19 January 2017 at Kochi.
Materials & Inventory Management involves the acquisition and safe keeping of the single largest group of current assets in any business; whether manufacturing or service oriented. To ensure smooth production/service, without any loss of time and without damage to customer for want of materials is very challenging. Inventory management skills are essential which have multiplied many folds in the immediate past and businesses are looking really competitive personnel sharpened in their skills to perform. The training is meant for those who wish to improve for greater level of performance and value addition.
According to a note from CII, the training programme is designed to create awareness and develop efficient storekeeping and inventory management skills amongst the participants.
Importance and functions of materials and stores Management, Stores Systems and Procedures, Preservation and materials handling, Introduction to Inventory Management, Basic Inventory Control tools, Spare Parts Management – special inventory control measures for spare parts, Stores Accounting, stock verification and standardization, safety practices; ERP application in inventory management and controls, and Productive Inventory MIS, etc are the topics to be covered.
Prof. G R C Nair, B Sc (Engg), M Tech, MBA, retired General Manager, Cochin Shipyard is the resource person. He had previously worked in Steel Authority of India for six years and has also worked as Procurement Manager in GEC, Al Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He has more than 30 years of industrial experience and is an expert in Materials Management. He is currently the National Council Member of Indian Institute of Materials Management (IIMM).
