Trivandrum: The Government will take positive steps to strengthen Kerala Electronics Development Corporation (KELTRON) to make it one of the efficient public sector undertakings in the country. This was announced by the Minister for Industries, Shri A C Moideen, on his maiden visit to a Keltron unit after taking charge recently as the Industries Minister.
The Minister today visited the Keltron Karakulam Unit to evaluate the manufacturing of uninterrupted power supply (UPS) system developed by Keltron for the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. (NPCIL).
“Keltron should improve its manufacturing base with future vision and be able to tackle the opportunities in national and international markets”, the Minister added. He also had detailed discussions with M P Sukumaran Nair, Chairman of RIAB; K G Vijayakumaran Nair, Chairman of Keltron and T R Hemalatha, Managing Director of Keltron. Top officials of Keltron and trade union leaders were also present during the meeting.
The Power Electronics Group of Keltron is executing orders worth Rs. 10.5 crores from M/s BGR Energy Systems Limited, Chennai for design, manufacture, testing, inspection, supply and commissioning of 3phase 2x500KVA UPS System (8 sets) – along with mandatory spares for NPCIL 4 X 700 Mw Mega Power Projects at Kakrapar, Gujarat and Rawatbhata, Rajasthan. The system is designed with state of art technology employing Digital Signal Processor and Field Programmable Gate Array. Each of the UPS is designed to continuously supply power to Nuclear Power Projects. The system has been qualified after successfully subjected to the independent verification and validation by NPCIL.
