Trivandrum: Uber, a worldwide online transportation network company, has expanded its coverage area in Thiruvananthapuram city to include Kovalam, one of the most visited tourist destinations in Kerala.
Uber started off in Kerala with Kochi as its first city in 2014, followed by the capital city in 2015. This announcement comes on the completion of Uber’s one-year in Thiruvananthapuram and owing to the positive response it has got from riders. Being the peak on-season time for tourists, this expansion will also help them get a reliable and convenient ride to Kovalam.
Speaking about the expansion within the city, Nitin Nair, GM – Uber Kerala said “We are humbled with the response we have received from Thiruvananthapuram. We are excited to expand our coverage area to include Kovalam and give people a reliable and convenient transportation option. We are also looking forward to mobilising the micro-entrepreneurship community in Kovalam by bringing hundreds of economic opportunities.”
Riders can travel to Kovalam at a flat fare of INR 500 from Thiruvananthapuram Uber city limits. There is an introductory offer – until 31st December 2016, all rides to Kovalam will cost just INR 300. Riders need to enter promo code KOVALAM to avail this offer. All rides from Kovalam will be charged at normal rates.
