Trivandrum: Products and technologies from Kerala’s key manufacturing sectors will be showcased to potential buyers at a major Business-to-Business interaction which Chief Minister Shri Pinarayi Vijayan today formally introduced as the Vyapar 2017 meet, scheduled to take place in Kochi in February next year.
The Chief Minister also released the official logo of the event, which will be hosted at Kochi from February 2 to 4. Kerala Vyapar 2017 will focus on Kerala’s Small & Micro Enterprises (SMEs), showcase the State’s existing strong manufacturing base, highlight the quality of its products, help sustain existing industries and enable their growth.
The meet is also a platform to boost consumer and investor confidence in Kerala and provide impetus to the production sector and the economy. Vyapar 2017 will highlight the State’s industrial agility and knowledge-based skills to the trading community in India and internationally.
Kerala B2B meets are a part of the state government’s efforts to promote SMEs in the global markets and help the manufacturing sector access larger markets.
The Directorate of Industries & Commerce (DIC) will select the SMEs for Vyapar 2017 and provide them the opportunity to present their products and technologies to prospective buyers including business houses, trade associates, exporters and bulk consumers from India and abroad.
Vyapar 2017 will focus on promoting products from sectors as varied as Food Processing, Handlooms, Textiles and Garments (with special focus on Fashion Design and Furnishing products), Rubber, Coir, Ayurveda and Herbal (including cosmetics and herbal nutraceuticals), Electrical and Electronics as also traditional sectors like Handicrafts and Bamboo.
Vyapar 2017 is being organised by the Department of Industries & Commerce in association with the DIC, Directorate of Handlooms & Textiles, Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) and Kerala Industrial Development Corporations (KINFRA). The Kerala Bureau of Industrial Promotion (K-BIP) is the designated nodal agency. The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) is the ‘Trade & Industry Partner’.
Additional Chief Secretary, Industries Department, Paul Antony; Special Secretary – Industries, Sanjay Kaul; MD, KSIDC, Dr. M Beena; Director Kerala State Industries & Commerce, PM Francis; Director Handloom Development, K Sudheer; and K-BIP CEO, V Rajagopal were also present.
