Trivandrum: The online bookings for the Virtual Queue system being implemented by Kerala Police for the smooth conduct of the next season of Sabarimala pilgrimage will commence on October 17, 2016. The Virtual Q system is an attempt on the part of the Kerala Police to manage and control the crowd to the famous mountain temple.
Those who are planning the Sabarimala pilgrimage can register their names at www.sabarimalaq.com. Pilgrims will have to provide personals details like name, age, photo, address and photo ID card number while registering. The police have made arrangements for the registered pilgrims on the virtual queue to go directly from Pampa to Sannidhanam ‘nadappanthal’ cutting the long queues.
According to a press release from the Kerala Police Information Centre, during the last season, 16,66,750 pilgrims utilised the Virtual Q system to visit Sabarimala from November 2015 to January 2106. Since the launch of the online booking system in 2011, over 70 lakhs pilgrims have used it till 2015.
While registering their names, pilgrims can select the day of their choice from the calendar provided on the portal based on the availability. Once the booking is over, they have to take a print out of the virtual queue coupon which carries details of the pilgrim as well as the booking date and day, after saving it on the website.
The Virtual Queue coupon should be shown at the verification counter in Pampa so that the pilgrim will be issued an entry card. Only those carrying the virtual card can avail of the facilities provided in the virtual queue system.
Pilgrims carrying the virtual queue coupon should show the photo ID card at the verification counter. Photo ID card is not a must for those under the age of 18 years. The pilgrims need to arrive on time on the day mentioned on the coupon for gaining entry to the virtual queue system.
The Virtual Queue system is a free service provided by Kerala Police. Those who have not booked in the virtual queue portal can make their ‘darshan’ by standing in the regular queue.
