CII conducts session on Ease of doing business in Kerala


Trivandrum: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized a session on Ease of Doing Business in Kerala in Thiruvananthapuram. Inaugurating the programme, the Minister for Electricity & Devaswoms, Shri Kadakampally Surendran said, “The new government’s goal is ‘A new Kerala, secular, corruption free and developed Kerala’”.

The Minister added the government shall not encourage bribe in the State and the system, and looks forward to realize their vision into reality. “Kerala is an extremely good place for the eco-friendly business. Value added manufacturing will be given a top priority. The Government of Kerala will take significant steps in order to provide better and modernized infrastructural facilities for overall economic development of the State. The government will continue to be proactive in improving the infrastructure in the State.”

In his address, C R Sasikumar, Managing Director of State Bank of Travancore said that Kerala needs to improve in various sectors which includes Skilling, Employability, High Speed Data connectivity etc. and to overcome these challenges there has to be a change the mindset of the people of the State.”

The objective of this session was to bring together the new Government, Industry members and other important Stake holders in Kerala to understand the challenges and difficulties in all the above mentioned areas; and also to deliberate on the actionable points / recommendations to make the State more Investor Friendly.

In this context, panel discussions on Taxation; Infrastructure; Finance, Mergers & Acquisitions; and e-Governance were also held. Dr Babu Thomas, Chairman, CII Thiruvananthapuram Zone; and P Ganesh, Past Chairman, CII Kerala State Council; were among those present.
