CII ‘Ease of Doing Business in Kerala’ session on April 15


Trivandrum: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organizing a session on ‘Ease of doing Business in Kerala’ with the theme ‘Measures to improve investment climate in Kerala in Kerala’ on April 15, 2016 at Thiruvananthapuram.

According to a statement from CII, the objective of this Session is to create a forum to understand the difficulties faced by industries while doing business in Kerala and also to deliberate on the actionable points to make the State Investor Friendly.

Kerala has the inherent potential to emerge as a strong manufacturing and services hub in the near future, leveraging on its rich endowments of resources and an effective policy framework for improving the ease of doing business. Before that, however, much needs to be done to address the issues and challenges of manufacturing and services sector being faced in the state currently.

In this context the discussion would be based on issues like – Improving the overall ease of doing business in the State, Credit and Financial Literacy, Tax Literacy & Preparedness for implementation of GST, and Third party certifications.

The key speakers expected at the conference are Jiji Thomson, Chairman, KSIDC & Advisor to Chief Minister of Kerala; Ajay Shankar, Chairman, Expert Committee on Regulatory Approvals, Government of India; Sumit Dutt Mazumder, Former Chairman, Central Board of Excise & Customs, CBEC; Anil Jauhri, CEO, Quality Council of India; Dr V K Baby, Special Secretary – Taxes, GoK; S Adikesavan, Chief General Manager, SBT; and Lovely V T, Chief Environmental Engineer, Kerala State Pollution Control Board.
