Eastern Condiments bags Spices Board’s top Spice Exporter award


Kochi: Adimali based Eastern Condiments has bagged the Spices Board annual awards for the Top Most Exporter of Curry Powder / Spice Mix and Top Most Exporter of Spices and Spice Products in branded consumer packs for the year 2012-13 and 2013-14.

Firoz Meeran, Managing Director and Nabeesa Meeran, Director of Eastern Group received from Dr. A Jayathilak IAS, Chairman, Spices Board at a function held at Ahmedabad.

Navas Meeran, Eastern Group Chairman said, “It is a testimony for the acceptance of Eastern Products across the Globe and we are proud to represent India at the World Stage. Eastern Condiments, with its distinct taste and flavour, has been winning this award for the 17th consecutive year.”

In his comments, Firoz said, “We are proud to be at the forefront of food technology and high quality standards. We also welcomed the stringent quality measures taken by the Government in the food sector. Spices Board quality standards are rigorous. Hence, this award is an assurance to the confidence of consumers in Eastern Products. We follow stringent quality checks at every stage and maintain international standards of quality in all areas. I believe our consistent approach towards ensuring high standards of quality is what continues to win us laurels.”

Navas added that Eastern has established a very modern and sophisticated laboratory at Adimaly which is NABL approved. “It is one of the leading such laboratories in the country. We’ve done this with an objective of being a global player in Spices.”

Five years back, Eastern Curry Powder entered into a strategic alliance with the global spice giant McCormick to take Eastern to newer horizons. Eastern is a well-diversified group with a combined turnover of over Rs.1,000 crores. Eastern Condiments continues to be the flagship company of the group. Enjoying a sizeable market share in the UK, US and UAE, all of Eastern’s spice consignments are tested by Spices Board (Govt. of India) before export.
