Trivandrum: In a significant development and a true endorsement of importance that NASSCOM places on Kerala as an emerging destination for the IT industry in India, the premier organisation that represents and sets the tone for public policy for the Indian IT industry is setting up a Regional Council (RC) for Kerala.
Kerala will be the 5th Regional Council of Nasscom across the country. The Regional Councils function across different cities where NASSCOM members are located to build strategies and address local issues. Member connect, tier 2 city development, best practices sharing, policy advocacy with local governments are some of the focus areas.
The Kerala Nasscom Regional Council will be launched by Chief Minister Shri Oommen Chandy on July 22, 2013 at Thiruvananthapuram. Minister for Industries & IT, Shri P K Kunhalikutty; E K Bharat Bhushan IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Kerala; Som Mittal, President, Nasscom and V K Mathews, Chairman, Nasscom RC, Kerala are expected to attend the launch event.
It was in September 2011 that Nasscom opened its first office in Kerala which was also the first office of Nasscom outside the metro cities. The Nasscom office at the Park Centre inside the Technopark campus in Trivandrum caters to the needs of its members in Kerala.
The National Association of Software & Services Companies (NASSCOM) is the industry association for the IT & ITeS sector in India. A not-for-profit organisation funded by the industry, its objective is to build a growth led and sustainable technology and business services sector in the country. Established in 1988, NASSCOM’s membership represent 95 percent of industry revenues and have enabled the association to spearhead initiatives and programs to build the sector in the country and globally.
