UK – India workshop on Innovation & Technology Commercialisation


Trivandrum: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) & British Deputy High Commission is organizing a ‘UK – India Workshop on Innovation, Industrial R&D and Technology Commercialization’ on October 16, 2015 in Thiruvananthapuram.

This workshop aims at promoting business-led collaborative R&D projects between R&D institutions and industries in Kerala with UK companies and supporting academic collaboration from both countries. The programme also envisages supporting sustainable research partnerships and increased bilateral R&D collaboration between Kerala and UK for developing innovative products / process leading to economic growth and societal benefit.

This will also involve deliberation on Innovation ecosystem in UK & India, Commercialization of research for Innovation, Incubation and Technology Transfer in Industrial R&D and aims to bring together experts from Kerala and the UK. The Key sectors which will be focused during this workshop are Health care, Clean energy and Food processing.

A delegation from the UK will be in Trivandrum this week to participate in this first-ever joint workshop on Innovation & Technology Commercialisation.

The objective of this session would be in identifying key areas of industrial R&D that are relevant for the development of Kerala and that requires industrial R&D partnerships for technology transfer focusing on affordable health care, clean energy solutions and food processing, and also identifying R&D-industry joint ventures so as to initiate innovation, industrial intervention, incubation and technology deployment and preparation of a time schedule indicating the pace of deployment for each selected ventures.

Speakers from India include seniors from Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), CII, Trivandrum, CSIR-NIIST, Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Trivandrum and Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation.

The UK delegation includes Cambridge Enterprise, Accelerator India, Isis Innovation Ltd, Imperial Innovations, Imperial College, Ledmac Ltd and London and Partners, UK Trade & Investment, the Science & Innovation Network and Scottish Development International.
