Kochi: Minister for IT & Industries, Shri P K Kunhalikutty today inaugurated NASSCOM’s first incubator-cum-accelerator in Kerala, touted as the IT industry body’s fastest completed warehouse in the country, at the Infopark campus here.
The Nasscom Startup Warehouse, which is part of Nasscom’s ‘10,000 Startups’ initiative, is the first such facility in Kerala and the third in India after Bangalore and Kolkata. The Startup Warehouse will also serve as Nasscom’s office in the State.
“The Government of Kerala is very proud to welcome the Nasscom Startup Warehouse to the State, which aims to scale up the start-up ecosystem in Kerala. The government is ready to give all possible support to the facility,” said IT Minister.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard was exchanged between Principal Secretary for IT & Industries, P H Kurian and Nasscom Product Council Chair, Ravi Gururaj.
“The accelerator will help to boost the entrepreneurial capabilities of the youngsters and create a vibrant community who will be able to connect with investors, mentors and entrepreneurs”, said Kurian.
Infopark CEO, Hrishikesh Nair said it will be an incubation facility where companies like Google, Microsoft and IBM will share their expertise in the technology field with the start-ups and help them to go global. Already six startups have been shortlisted which will start operating from the facility today. They are CIED, AgrimaInfotech, Janta Solutions, GeoSpice Location Intelligence, Quadproso and Rabitech.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajiv Vaishnav, Vice President, NASSCOM said, “This is the fastest warehouse that we have ever put together. We thank Infopark team for helping to complete the facility in a record two and a half months time.”
On the occasion, Nasscom felicitated Hrishikesh and K G Girish Babu, CEO, Technopark, Trivandrum on the completion of 10 years of Infopark and 25 years of Technopark respectively, towards their contribution to develop and sustain an eco system for IT in the state.
Started in April 2013, the ‘10,000 Startups’ is an ambitious attempt by Nasscom to enable incubation, funding and support for 10,000 technology start-ups in India over the next ten years.
