CII to host session on Social Marketing and Direct Selling


Trivandrum: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organizing a high powered discussion on Social Marketing and Direct Selling ‘Empowering Growth and Regulatory Aspects’ on July 21, 2015 at Thiruvananthapuram.

According to a press note from CII, in the presence of the diverse consumer base in the country, the Direct Selling Industry is rapidly emerging as an alternative channel of distribution along with the conventional sales / marketing formats like malls, retail shops, conventional stores, kiranas, grocery stores, etc. Direct selling industry plays an important role in boosting self-employment, contributing to the state exchequer, providing supplementary financial support, encouraging women empowerment and holds significance to the overall economic growth and development. Direct Selling Industry is USD 167 billion globally and Rs. 7,000 crores plus in India. It is estimated that this industry contributes to livelihood of around 55-60,000 families in Kerala, making this a unique industry to address unemployment issues.

The Session will bring together key stakeholders, including policy makers, industry, State bodies federations, manufacturers, distributors, experts, institutes and media for a holistic perspective. The deliberation will include current issues; policies, areas for greater understanding through partnership with States as well as international stake holders; and, make recommendation that will provide the much needed traction for boosting business of Social Marketing & Direct Selling in Kerala.
