Kottayam: In a welcome move that could benefit the rubber planters in Kerala, Buco S A, a rubber product manufacturer and member of Argentina Rubber Manufacturers’ Association based in Escobar, Argentina, has expressed interest to buy natural rubber from India.
Nelson Buconic and Mariano Buconic of the company visited the Kottayam based Rubber Board and held discussions with the Board’s officials and major rubber exporters on their proposal to buy ‘Indian Natural Rubber’ branded rubber from India.
At the Buyer-Seller meeting arranged by the Market Promotion Department of the Board at the Rubber Research Institute of India here, Mariano informed the exporters their plan to buy branded rubber from India not only for their own factory, but also to sell to other industries in their country. Their major requirement was for dry forms of rubber, especially block rubber.
The prospective sellers who attended the meeting presented their offers before the company. Representatives of Plantation Corporation of Kerala, Kavanar Latex, Vembanadu Rubbers, Thunchathu Ezhuthachan Rubbers, Malaya Group, Thomson Rubbers, R1 International, ABN Impex, Dolphin Rubber Industries, Royal Latex, Edathala Polymer and K E Mohammed & Company attended the meeting.
Dr. Binoi K Kurian, Dy. Director (Marketing), and M G Sathees Chandran Nair, Dy. Director (P&PR), Rubber Board led the discussions. They informed the buyers that, among all the rubber producing countries in the world, India is the only one which has branded the rubber exported from the country. Branding is a unique concept whereby the quality of the export consignment is guaranteed by the Rubber Board. The discerning features of branded rubber leverage export competitiveness of Indian rubber in the international market.
