Trivandrum: The Kerala Business to Business (B2B) Meet 2015, organised by the Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Kerala, will be held from February 26 to 28 at Kochi. This was announced by the Minister for Industries & IT, Shri P K Kunhalikutty in Thiruvananthapuram today.
Chief Minister, Shri Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the meet where several buyers / buying houses from outside Kerala including foreign buyers will participate in the B2B Meet.
Addressing a press conference, the Minister said, “The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) is the ‘Trade & Industry Partner’ for the Meet and they have brought in National and International Buyers to the Meet. The event will facilitate direct interaction between buyers and sellers and this would result in more orders apart from promotion of products. The focus is on buyers from outside Kerala and abroad. This event will give a thrust to the MSME sector in the State which has put up a good performance.”
Seven sectors of Kerala’s industry will be showcased at the B2B Meet 2015. The sectors are Food Processing (Food & Spices), Handlooms, Textiles & Garments, Rubber, Wood based Industries, Ayurveda & Herbal, Electrical & Electronics and Traditional Sector like Handicrafts, Bamboo etc. The Event will have an exhibitor section in which 150 selected exhibitors (excelling SMEs) from Kerala would showcase their products and technologies in the seven chosen sectors. There will be 10 stalls for innovative products.
Giving details, P H Kurian, Principal Secretary – Industries & IT, said, “The focus is on buyers from outside Kerala and abroad. 464 firms have registered for the Meet out of which 324 have confirmed their participation, till today. This includes more than 100 firms from abroad including 18 from UAE and 14 from Bangladesh. Most of them are exporters and traders. The food and spices sector has generated the maximum interest. We expect good business for all participating companies.”
The Event is being organised in association with Directorate of Industries & Commerce, Directorate of Handlooms & Textiles, Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), Kerala Industrial Development Corporations (KINFRA) and Kerala Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO). Kerala Bureau of Industrial Promotion (K-BIP) is the nodal agency for conducting the Meet.
