Trivandrum: Kerala will host Global Agro Meet, an International Conference and Exhibition on Hi Tech Agriculture and Food Processing on November 6-7, 2014, in Kochi. One of the largest International Conference and Exposition on Value Added Agriculture and Food Processing products and technologies, Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) will be the nodal agency of the Meet, being organized in association with the State Department of Agriculture, Confederation of Indian Industry and the International Competency Centre for Organic Agriculture (ICCOA).
Chief Minister, Shri Oommen Chandy released the logo of the Meet and Minister for Industries & IT, Shri P K Kunhalikkutty launched the website of the Meet at a function held in Thiruvananthapuram.
Announcing the dates, the CM said the Global Agro Meet will be an opening for Kerala to showcase its agriculture produce. The event would also give a fillip to the State’s agricultural sector as it would open a lot of opportunities for Kerala, its farmers and food processing industry. He also reminded that the conduct of Global Agro Meet was announced at the 2012 Emerging Kerala Summit.
The Global Agro Meet will create a common platform for all stake holders like Farmers, Processors, Retailers in the State to showcase the core competencies and products and learn the best practices from within the country and outside. It will also showcase the finest of technologies, products, services and also trends in agriculture and agro processing from within the county and abroad.
The Conference will have sessions on Value Added products (with a focus on Pineapple, Spices, Coconut products, processed food and Functional Food), Hi-tech Agriculture, Dairy, Poultry, Fisheries, Animal husbandry Horticulture, Food Safety, Post Harvest Infrastructure, Policy reforms and financial assistance. The Exposition will showcase Kerala potential in Spices, Food Processing and Agriculture.
The Global Agro Meet will be held concurrent with the BIOFACH INDIA-2014 event to be held at the same venue from November 6-8. The event offers Indian and International Organic Players a platform for communication, education and last but not the least business. International Competency Centre for Organic Agriculture (ICCOA) a premier organization in organic agriculture along with Nuremberg Messe India will host BIOFACH INDIA together with India Organic trade Fair.
Finance Minster, Shri K M Mani; Agriculture Minister, Shri K P Mohanan; Minister for Rural Development, Shri K C Joseph and , Hon’ble and Minster for Fisheries, Shri K Babu were among those present.
