Trivandrum: The Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd. or KELTRON, as it is more popularly known, is all set to launch KELLE, its own brand of LED lights by the first half of July.
This was disclosed by C Prasannakumar, Managing Director of Keltron, on the sidelines of a press conference to announce the winner of the KELLE logo design contest. Sudeep G S, a third year Mechanical Engineering student at the College of Engineering, Trivandrum (CET), was selected as the winner.
Giving details about KELLE, Prasannakumar said, “We are ready for launch as we have got the UL LM-79 certification regarding the performance testing of these LED lights. The LED lights would be entirely manufactured by Keltron at our Lighting Division at Mudadi, near Kozhikode. The Mercury free LED lights are eco-friendly and use 50% less power to give 25% more brighter illumination. The KELLE range has four products – Tubelights, Retrofit Tubelights, Bulbs and Down Lights, from 5 to 22 Watts. The LED lights with a 15 years lifetime will be priced competitively, comparable with other branded products in the market and will have two years warranty.”
“To take care of the marketing and distribution, Keltron has appointed Channel Partners. We also want to try out door-to-door direct marketing by employing the unemployed youths in our State. The Keltron brand was very popular among households years ago, thanks to its good quality and reliable electronics products. We want to regain that glory with KELLE”, he added.
Keltron has set up a state-of-the-art integrated lighting manufacturing unit at its factory in Mudadi to manufacture residential, commercial and industrial grade LED lighting products.
Meanwhile, as part of getting new business, Keltron is looking at contract manufacturing of electronic goods for other companies, Prasannakumar added.
